Oeco a firm from Ripon North Yorks are going to start building my Garden room/Studio and Gallery tomorrow, Have waited over 2 months for the planning consent to come through, so plans have been on hold for a long time , but it is really exciting that things are starting to move now .

The Studio should be ready for use in December, so I am planning an opening event early December, hopefully Saturday 4th late pm would seem to be a good time , but I would appreciate some feedback on this.

I will be open to visitors to the Studio every afternoon through December and January including over the festive season. so I hope loys of you will come along and have a glass of wine and a mince pie through Dec and over the Holidays

have finally got planning permission for my garden studio/gallery , to be sighted in the front garden, the best news though is that I will have so much less grass to cut next year !

A quick landscape  painting in watercolour, a rare event for me, but one I quite enjoyed, certainly much quicker and easier  than acrylics ,but there is always the problem of framing watercolours having to protect them behind glass and the resultant reflections , this is to me the big benefit of acrylics, no glass not even a frame if I paint the edges to complement the face image ! no reflection the image is clearly visible from any viewpoint.

I used photos I took many years ago when I lived in Orkney, and this was a favourite place to walk my dog, the beach at Evie a fabulous place to watch bird life I recall vividly the sound of long tailed ducks in winter and the myriad list of waders I spotted here

Have just delivered commission – painting of 3 Labs – Cocoa, Teddy and Sugar, customer delighted, they said it was better than they could possibly have expected , I appreciated that, I must say it looked very good against the wall with the same background colour

Just completed another commission a christmas present again, they are certainly coming in now .

This is Barney  a Border terrier pup, full of mischief from the looks of him.

The best way I could think of doing the portrait as the client had a restricted budget was to use 190lb Not watercolour paper do the body colour with watercolour and the detail with acrylic allowing me to highlight his hairy face !

Hope you , and the client ,like the result , always a nervy time , but I have e-mailed it to them so they will know what they are getting before I turn up to deliver it .

Here is the completed triple portrait of the 3 Labradors I started last week, who I now Know as – from left to right – Sugar, Teddy and Cocoa.

painted on a background of Dulux mid-umber soft sheen paint !!  –  to match the wall where it will eventually hang,

Three very different dogs , I have thoroughly enjoyed developing their individual characters which I hope is apparent to the viewer, its amazing the difference in colours and the multitude of tones in the coat of each of them.
